Sparks, Md. - Stockton University (1-0) made an outstanding 2025 debut with a 21-5 rout of Southern Virginia (2-1) in the season opener. The game was played at Tierney Field, which is located at USA Lacrosse headquarters.

Alex DeLierre (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) led the Ospreys with five goals and one assist for six points.
Liam Humphrey (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) and freshman
Jack Vandegrift (Jenkintown/LaSalle College Prep) each contributed two goals and an assist.

Daniel Amores (West Caldwell/Caldwell) and
Evan Deans (Olney, Md./James Hubert Blake) scored two goals apiece while
Robbie O'Brien (Springfield, Pa./Springfield-Delco) dished a game-high three assists.

Gage Parker (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown),
Hunter VanZant (Lincoln Park/Boonton) and
Riley Burns (Mullica Hill/Clearview) all scored their first career goal.

Freshmen Vandegrift,
Ty Thermann (Spring Lake Hts./Manasquan) and
Josh Graham (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) also scored their first career goal in their first college game. Thermann won 12 of 16 faceoffs and grabbed a game-high nine ground balls as well.

Ben Blum (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) played 51:20 and stopped eight of the 11 shots on goal that he faced to earn the victory.

Stockton led 3-2 after one quarter and broke the game open with a 7-0 second period for a 10-2 lead at the break. The Ospreys then outscored Southern Virginia 11-3 in the second half for the 21-5 triumph.

Abe Salmon and Peyton Merwin each scored twice for SVU.

Stockton will be on the road again on Saturday for a game at Misericordia that begins at 1:00 p.m.
