Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-2) could not hold an early lead and fell to Swarthmore College (3-2) 9-3 on Friday afternoon.
Evan Bresnen (Allentown/Steinert) had two of the six Osprey hits on the day, as the game was shortened to seven innings due to darkness.
Â
After the Garnet scored two runs in the top of the second inning, Stockton responded with three markers in their half of the third frame. The Ospreys loaded the bases and with one out,
Robbie Ford (Green Twp./Newton) was hit by a pitch to force in a run. A wild pitch plated the second tally, before
Tony Gatti (Howell/Howell) picked up an RBI with a walk for the 3-2 lead.
Â
It would be short-lived as the visitors scored seven times between the fourth and sixth innings, holding Stockton without a tally, to secure the 9-3 victory.
Â
Freshman hurler
Justin Prekop (Hamilton/Notre Dame), the first of four Osprey pitchers in the game, made his collegiate debut on the hill, but suffered the loss. He tossed 3.1 innings with his first two career strikeouts. Fellow rookies

Joseph Loreti (Hamilton/Steinert) also saw action on the mound, with Loreti also making his first college appearance.
Â
For Swarthmore, Matthew Silvestre rapped three of the Garnet nine safeties on the day. Jeremy Jensen tossed 3.1 innings of scoreless relief earning his first win of the year.
