Stockton Falls to #23 Randolph-Macon Twice

Ashland, Va. – Stockton University (5-5) finished its six-game trip south with its second straight doubleheader against a ranked opponent. The Ospreys dropped both ends to 23rd-ranked Randolph-Macon (10-2) by scores of 7-0 and 2-0.

Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/James Caldwell) rapped a team-high three hits in the twinbill and Megan Sears (Oakland/Indian Hills) contributed one hit in each game.

In the opener, Lexi Liquori (Union/Union) held the Yellow Jackets scoreless through four innings before the home team struck for three runs in the fifth. Randolph-Macon added four runs against the Osprey bullpen in the sixth frame for the 7-0 final. Stockton was limited to just three hits in the game, all singles.

Stockton outhit the Yellow Jackets 9-4 in the nightcap, however the Ospreys left eight runners on base. Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) went 2-3 with a double and a walk. Cetrulo singled twice as well.

Randolph-Macon reached Stockton pitcher Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) for two runs on three hits in the first inning, but Tramp allowed just one hit the rest of the way in a strong performance despite the outcome.

Tramp's final line was two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks in six innings of work. The Ospreys generated scoring opportunities, but they left the bases loaded in the fourth inning and stranded two runners apiece in the second and third stanzas of the 2-0 setback.

Stockton will play again on Friday at Neumann University, with the first pitch of the doubleheader set for 2:00 p.m.
