Stockton Edges Arcadia 12-11 on Late Goal

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (7-4) snapped an 11-11 tie by scoring the game-winning goal with 1:52 remaining for a 12-11 victory over Arcadia University (5-4) that was the third straight win for the Ospreys. Stockton led for most of the game before Arcadia forged a tie in the fourth quarter.

After the Knights netted three straight goals in just over two minutes to knot the game at 11, Gage Parker (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) struck for the game-winner with just 1:52 on the clock. Ben Blum (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) made two saves in the last 19 seconds to seal the victory.

Parker led the Ospreys with a career-high four goals and one assist for five points while Jack Vandegrift (Jenkintown, Pa./LaSalle College Prep) scored a career-high four goals. Josh Graham (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) chipped in with two goals and two assists for four points.

Three of Parker's tallies came early as Stockton broke out to a 6-2 lead. The Ospreys handled several challenges by Arcadia, responding with a goal each time after the Knights got within two at 7-5, 9-7 and 10-8.

Stockton answered again after Arcadia rallied to tie the game with 3:10 on the clock. A key faceoff win by Mike Cuzzola (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) on the ensuing draw gave possession to the Ospreys and set the stage for Parker's game-winner.

Blum earned the victory with 11 saves and Cuzzola led Stockton with seven faceoff wins and five ground balls.

Nick Mormando paced Arcadia with four goals followed by Kyle McLaughlin with two goals and four assists for a game-high six points.

Stockton will open Coastal Lacrosse Conference play on Saturday with a game at Mary Washington (Va.) that begins at noon.
