Galloway, N.Y. – Stockton University (3-3) played its fourth straight home game and final contest before the team's spring break trip to Florida but suffered a 3-1 setback to Arcadia University (3-3). The meeting was the second of the season between the teams.
Robbie Ford (Green Twp./Newton) rapped two of Stockton's four hits, including a double, and scored the lone run for the Ospreys.
Evan Bresnen (Allentown/Steinert) and
Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert) stroked one double apiece.
Arcadia jumped on top with two runs on four hits in the first inning. Stockton freshman
Jack Tiernan (Brick/St. Rose) then came out of the bullpen for an impressive debut. Tiernan yielded a run in the second frame but followed with 5.2 scoreless innings to keep the score at 3-0.
The Ospreys threatened in the bottom of the ninth. Ford led off with a single and later scored an unearned run. Stockton loaded the bases with two outs, but a fielder's choice ended the game with the Ospreys on the wrong end of a 3-1 score.
