Stockton Shuts Out Penn State Brandywine 10-0

Winter Haven, Fla. – Stockton University (4-3) opened its eight-game stint in Florida with a dominant 10-0 shutout of Penn State Brandywine (2-6) on Saturday night. The Ospreys stroked 12 hits while a pair of pitchers held Penn State Brandywine to just one hit. The game was called after seven innings.
 
Starter Zack McCabe (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) allowed one hit, struck out a career-high 11 batters and walked none in six scoreless innings for the win. Chris Gonzalez (Hazlet/Raritan) tossed the seventh inning and completed the shutout.
 
Jordan Nitti (Hamilton/Steinert) led the offense with three hits, including a double, three runs and two RBI. Tony Gatti (Howell/Howell), Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert) and Russell Halvorsen (Howell/Howell) rapped two hits apiece and combined for five runs and three RBI.
 
After one run apiece in the first two innings, Stockton created some separation with four runs in the fourth. Gmitter provided the key blow with a two-run single. The Ospreys put the game away with four more runs on six hits in the top of the seventh.
 
Nitti and Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus) ripped RBI doubles while Gatti and Evan Bresnen (Allentown/Steinert) added RBI singles as Stockton reached double figures in the 10-0 triumph.
 
Stockton will play Western New England University in Winter Haven on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
