Salisbury, Md. – Stockton University (5-3) fell to 13th-ranked Salisbury University (7-1) by scores of 13-3 in five innings and 6-3 on Sunday afternoon.
Emma Coldsnow (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) topped the Ospreys with three hits and three RBI in the doubleheader.
Coldsnow went 2-3 with her NJAC-leading fifth home run of the season and three RBI in the opener.
Emily Spencer (Southampton/Seneca) added a double, run scored, walk and stolen base while
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) singled and scored as well.
Spencer led off the game with a double and later scored on an RBI single by Coldsnow for a short-lived 1-0 lead. Salisbury totaled 13 runs in their first four offensive turns. Coldsnow slugged a two-run homer in the top of the fifth to set the final score at 13-3. Four of the runs allowed by Stockton were unearned.
Maggie Formichelli (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) went 1-3 with a run and an RBI in the nightcap. Freshman
Casey Sokol (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) contributed a hit and a run. Fellow rookie
McKenna George (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) stole a base and scored a run for the Ospreys.
The Sea Gulls scored four times in the bottom of the first and twice more in the fourth stanza for a 6-0 count. Stockton tallied all three of their runs in the top of the seventh. Formichelli stroked an RBI single and scored on a passed ball during the inning. Sokol and George also scored before the game ended 6-3.
Stockton will head to Virginia to face another ranked opponent on Tuesday when the Ospreys play No. 23 Randolph-Macon in a doubleheader that starts at 2:00 p.m.
