Wayne, N.J. – Stockton University (17-11, 5-5 NJAC) evened its conference record as two Osprey pitchers held William Paterson (11-13, 4-6 NJAC) to just one run in a doubleheader on Sunday. Stockton took the opener 5-1 and completed the sweep 7-0.
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) hurled a three-hitter with nine strikeouts in the first game.
Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/Caldwell) hit her fourth homer of the season while
McKenna George (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) added one hit and two RBI.
Sacrifice flies by George in the third and fifth innings gave Stockton a 2-0 lead, but the Pioneers cut the margin in half with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Cetrulo created some separation with a two-run homer in the sixth frame and
Evangelina Kim (Egg Harbor Twp./Atlantic Christian) came in with an unearned run in the 5-1 win.
Stockton senior
Mia Barone (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) pitched her first career shutout in the nightcap, allowing four hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
Emma Coldsnow (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) led the offense with two hits including her league-leading seventh home run of the season.
Alexa Panagopoylos (Atco/Hammonton) went 2-4 with a double, run and an RBI.
Emily Spencer (Southampton/Seneca) rapped two hits and tallied one RBI.
The game was scoreless into the fourth inning until Cetrulo singled and scored an unearned run. An RBI single by Spencer in the sixth frame made it 2-0. The Ospreys exploded for five runs in the top of the seventh, highlighted by Coldsnow's two-run homer.
Panagopoylos brought home Cetrulo with an RBI single and then scored on a triple by
Brianna Segnello (Mt. Olive/Mt. Olive), who then scored on a single by
Aubrey Jeffers (Lumberton/Rancocas Valley) to complete the 7-0 victory.
