Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (8-8) broke out to an early lead but couldn't sustain the momentum and fell to Vassar College (5-8) 12-10. A 16-minute scoring drought proved to be too much for the Ospreys to overcome.
Riley Burns (Mullica Hill/Clearview) led Stockton with a team-high three goals.
Connor Albrecht (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) was the top point producer for the Ospreys with four on two goals and two assists.
Two goals by Burns and one each from
Josh Graham (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) and
Hunter VanZant (Lincoln Park/Boonton) staked Stockton to a 4-1 lead. Markers by Albrecht and
Jack Vandegrift (Jenkintown Pa./LaSalle College Prep) later gave the Ospreys a 7-5 lead at the half.
Vassar pulled ahead 9-7 with four straight goals in the third quarter before VanZant ended the run to make it 9-8, the first of three times that Stockton would trail by one as the teams exchanged goals.
In the fourth period, Albrecht got the Ospreys within 10-9 but Vassar responded 1:22 later. Burns' third tally of the game closed the gap to one at 11-10 with 4:49 remaining, however the Brewers answered once again and foiled Stockton 12-10.
Stockton goalkeeper
Ben Blum (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) made 16 saves and his counterpart Drew Quinn notched 14 stops for Vassar. Anderson Eads paced the Brewers with four goals and one assist followed by Gavin Arcuri with two goals and two assists.
