Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (8-9, 1-4 CLC) finished the regular season with a 16-6 setback to fourth-ranked Christopher Newport (15-2, 4-1 CLC) on a balmy Saturday afternoon. The Captains were the third top-ten team that the Ospreys have faced this season.

Justin Besz (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) potted his first career goal.

Riley Burns (Mullica Hill/Clearview) and
Shane Kulhay (Glastonbury, Conn./Xavier) also scored once for Stockton. Freshman
Bryce Ruwet (Swedesboro/Kingsway) paced the defense with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
There was no shortage of effort on the part of the Ospreys at either end of the field against a national championship contender. Stockton played hard throughout the match and had chances in the first half to close the margin, including two shots off the post and seven more that were saved by CNU goalie Mason Bellinger.
Stockton goalkeeper

Gavin Jackson (Ocean City/Ocean City) stopped both shots on goal that he faced and
Owen Haugan (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) added one save.
Stockton celebrated the program's 50th season with a large contingent of alumni in attendance. University President Dr. Joe Bertolino presented the Victor Moore Leadership Award to senior
Evan Deans (Olney, Md./James Hubert Blake), with Moore's grandson Matthew also taking part in the pregame ceremony.
Jamie Smith topped CNU with four goals and Brett Jackson scored twice for the Captains. Bellinger collected the win with eight saves in 38:56.
Stockton will be the No. 5 seed for the Coastal Lacrosse Conference Tournament and play at No. 4 Mary Washington in the first round on April 27 at noon.
