Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (15-15, 4-7 NJAC) exploded for 14 runs and 14 hits, as the Ospreys downed Rutgers-Camden (21-11, 5-6 NJAC) 14-3 on Thursday afternoon.
Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus) continued his solid season with three hits, three RBI and three runs scored on the day.
The Scarlet Raptors opened the scoring with a run on four hits to start the game, before Stockton answered. With two runners on, Avagnano blasted his third home run of the season for a 3-1 lead after one frame. The Ospreys added three more markers in the second, two coming from a
Tucker Elder (Ewing/Ewing) blast.
The home team kept up the pressure with three runs each in the fifth and sixth innings, along with single runs in the seventh and eighth stanzas for a 14-1 margin. The visitors plated a pair of runs in the top of the final inning to set the score at 14-3.
Austin Beard (Toms River/Toms River South) and Elder, who also scored three runs, each had a pair of hits, with
Cooper Fiore (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) knocking in three runs and extending his on base streak to 11 straight games.
Rob Jeans (Toms River/Toms River North) earned his second win of the season, tossing 6.0 innings scattering eight hits with one earned run and four strikeouts.
Frankie Romond led the Scarlet Raptors with two hits.
The Ospreys will travel to Rutgers-Camden tomorrow to finish their home-and-home series. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 in Camden.
