Stockton Splits 1-0 Games at Ramapo

Mahwah, N.J. – Stockton University (21-13, 8-6 NJAC) and Ramapo College (24-7, 8-6 NJAC) split a pair of 1-0 games in an important conference doubleheader that left the teams in a three-way tie with each other and Montclair for fourth in the league standings.

Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) came within two outs of her first career no-hitter in the opener. Tramp finished with a line of one hit, five strikeouts and two walks in seven scoreless innings for the shutout.

Tramp also went 2-2 at the plate and McKenna George (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) rapped a double. The Ospreys manufactured a run on a double steal in the third inning. Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/Caldwell) stole second and pinch-runner Sienna Smith (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) raced home with the only run of the game.

In the nightcap, Emily Spencer (Southampton/Seneca) smacked a double and four of her teammates each singled once. The Ospreys held a 5-4 edge in hits but were held off the scoreboard. An unearned run by the Roadrunners in the first inning was the difference in the second 1-0 game of the day.

Mia Barone (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) did her part on the mound, allowing no earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.

Stockton returns home to host NJAC third-place team Kean University on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in another crucial twinbill.
