Stockton Downed by #2 Salisbury

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-6, 0-2 CLC) could not overcome a first half barrage and were defeated by Salisbury University (12-0, 2-0 CLC) by a score of 21-7 on Wednesday afternoon. Gage Parker (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) led the Ospreys with three goals and an assist for four points. The Sea Gulls are ranked #2 nationally by Inside Lacrosse.
 
The visitors scored five of the first six goals of the game, with Robbie O'Brien (Springfield, PA/Springfield Delco) tallying the marker for the Ospreys. Riley Burns (Mullica Hill/Clearview) assisted on the goal.
 
Stockton hit the back of the net for the first two scores in the second period on tallies by Parker and O'Brien, with an assist from Parker, to slice the margin to 5-3 at the 12:40 mark of the frame.
 
Salisbury exploded for the next eight goals, four coming in a span of 1:14, to take a commanding 13-3 advantage. Parker scored again before the Sea Gulls finished off the half with another goal for a 14-4 margin at the break.
 
After each squad tallied a goal in the third period, the Sea Gulls finished off the victory with six more markers to set the final score of 21-7.
 
O'Brien chipped in with two goals, with Tommy Vandegrift (Abington, PA/LaSalle College Prep) and Ben Malicki (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) also scoring.
 
Goalkeeper Ben Blum (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) tied his career-high with 19 saves in 51:13 of playing time. Will Kasica (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) finished up in net, playing the final 8:47 and making one save.
 
For the Sea Gulls, Ryan Della and Chris Wong scored four goals each.
Charles Fritchman won 20-23 face-offs and topped all players with 16 ground balls, with netminder Nicholas Ransom earning the win making three saves.
 
Stockton will take to the road for their next game, when the Ospreys will travel to Kean University on Saturday evening. The game is scheduled for 7 pm.
