Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (10-5, 1-3 NJAC) was downed by 13th-ranked The College of New Jersey (11-4, 4-0 NJAC) 16-5 in the last home of the season for the Ospreys. Stockton played a solid first quarter but their ranked foe proved to be too much in the end.
Julia Gibson (Cape May Point/Lower Cape May) led the Ospreys with two goals and two assists.
Margot Costello (South Brunswick/South Brunswick),
Caroline Mueller (Pittstown/North Hunterdon) and
Madison MacGillivray (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) each scored one goal.
First-quarter goals by Gibson and MacGillivray had Stockton within 3-2 with 12 minutes gone. A 7-0 second quarter in favor of the Lions put the game out of reach. Gibson, Mueller and Costello each scored in the second half, but the Ospreys fell 16-5.
Gina Marotta (Montville/Montville) led all players with four ground balls and reached the 100 mark for her career. Costello scooped three ground balls and Stockton goalkeeper
Jordan Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) made eight saves.
Marissa Lucca paced TCNJ with five goals and four assists followed by Ally Tobler with five goals and three assists. Gabriella Roosa tallied two goals and three assists for the Lions.
Stockton will finish the regular season with an NJAC game at Ramapo on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
