Stockton Routs Ramapo 17-3

Mahwah, N.J. – Stockton University (11-5, 2-3 NJAC) rolled to a 17-3 victory over Ramapo (5-8, 0-5 NJAC) in the regular season final on Sunday. With the win, Stockton officially secured a spot in the NJAC Tournament and will look to build on their momentum heading into the postseason.

The Ospreys got off to a quick start in the first period with Lilly Alessandro (Jenkintown, Pa./Abington) striking first just under two minutes into the game off an assist from Isabella Marinello (West Caldwell/Caldwell). Moments later, Marinello joined her by netting a goal of her own with an assist from Alessandro as Stockton raced out to a quick 2-0 lead.

Stockton's offense set the tone early, firing 23 shots in the first half and finishing the game with 30 total attempts compared to just 13 for Ramapo.

Margot Costello (South Brunswick/South Brunswick) led the charge with a historic all-around performance, setting a school record with eight caused turnovers and falling just one ground ball shy of tying another record with nine pickups. Costello also put away four goals and dished two assists.

Madison MacGillivray matched Costello's scoring output with four goals and two assists of her own. Marinello contributed three goals and two assists, while Ashley Pringle (Barnegat/Barnegat) and Julia Gibson (Cape May Point/Lower Cape May) each netted two.

Alessandro and Caroline Mueller (Pittstown/North Hunterdon) rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece.

The Stockton defense was locked in from start to finish, holding Ramapo to just three goals—two by Erin Smeilus and one by Bethany Glaser. Meghan Pellegrino (Somers Point/Mainland) tallied five caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Stockton will be the No. 4 seed for the NJAC Tournament and play at No. 1 seed The College of New Jersey on Wednesday.
