Union, N.J. – Stockton University (19-17, 7-9 NJAC) settled for a split of its home-and-home series with sixth-ranked Kean University (32-6, 15-1 NJAC). One day after knocking off the Cougars, Stockton suffered a 14-2 setback on Friday.
Jordan Nitti (Hamilton/Steinert) rapped two of Stockton's five hits and scored a run.
Robbie Ford (Green Twp./Newton) went 1-2 with one run, one RBI and one walk.
Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert) added one hit and one walk.
The Ospreys scored first as Nitti came home on a bases-loaded walk to Ford in the top of the first. Kean seized control of the game with seven runs in the bottom half. Ford later scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh to set the final score at 14-2.
Stockton used four pitchers in the game.
Anthony Mehmet (Jackson/Jackson Memorial), the last of the quartet, pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk.
Dominic Masino and Kyle Adorno each went 3-5 and scored three runs for Kean.
Stockton will finish the regular season with an NJAC doubleheader at home against Ramapo on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The Ospreys are one of three teams currently tied for sixth place and the final spot in the NJAC Tournament.
