Jersey City, N.J. – Stockton University (25-13, 12-6 NJAC) finished the regular season with a couple of run-rule victories over New Jersey City (17-21, 2-16 NJAC) by scores of 11-0 in six innings and 12-1 in five innings. The sweep gave Stockton 25 wins, its highest victory total since 2017.
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) pitched a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in the first game.
McKenna George (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) went 3-4 with a double, two runs, two RBI and two stolen bases.
Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/Caldwell) added three runs, two hits, one triple and one RBI.
Cetrulo tripled home George and then scored on an error to stake the Ospreys to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The Ospreys scored twice in the second inning and once each in the third and fifth frames for a 6-0 lead.
Stockton put the game away with five runs in the top of the sixth.
Emily Spencer (Southampton/Seneca) provided the big hit with a two-run double and George ripped an RBI double as the Ospreys cruised to the 11-0 triumph.
Cetrulo slugged two home runs and finished with four RBI in the nightcap. Spencer rapped three doubles and scored three times.
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) rapped three hits, including two doubles, and scored twice.
Alexa Panagopoylos (Atco/Hammonton) went 2-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs. Starter
Mia Barone (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) allowed one run on two hits in three innings for the win.
Lexi Liquori (Union/Union) tossed two scoreless innings and did not allow a hit.
Cetrulo hit her first homer during a four-run third inning that made it 6-1. Cetrulo and Panagoloylos each blasted two-run homers in the fourth frame as the lead ballooned to 10-1. The Ospreys tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning to seal the 12-1 rout.
Stockton will be the No. 4 seed for the NJAC Tournament and host No. 5 seed Kean University on Tuesday.
