Stockton Blanks Rutgers-Newark Twice, 17-0 & 5-0

Galloway, N.J. - Stockton University (15-9, 3-3 NJAC) rolled to a pair of shutout victories over Rutgers-Newark (8-14, 0-6 NJAC) by scores of 17-0 in five innings and 5-0. McKenna George (Centennial, Colo/Eaglecrest) led the Ospreys with four hits in the doubleheader.
 
In the opener, George went 2-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.  Maggie Formichelli (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) was 2-2 with a triple, two runs, one RBI and one walk.
 
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) hit a home run and finished with three RBI in the game. Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/Caldwell) ripped a triple and added two runs and two RBI. Alexa Panagopoylos (Atco/Hammonton) chipped in with a double, two runs, two walks and an RBI.
 
Stockton scored four runs in the first inning followed by seven, four and two scores in the next three frames for the 17-0 rout. Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) retired the first 11 batters that she faced and finished with a one-hit shutout and seven strikeouts for her eighth win of the season.
 
In the second contest, George went 2-3 with a double, triple, one run and one RBI while Cetrulo slammed her third homer in the last four games.
 
George got the scoring started with an RBI double in the third inning. The next frame, Cetrulo lofted a solo homer and the Ospreys added an unearned run to make it 3-0. A sacrifice fly by Czaczkowski and RBI double by Emily Spencer (Southampton/Seneca) in the fifth inning sealed the 5-0 win.
 
Stockton posted a rare four-pitcher combined shutout. Starter Mia Barone (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) allowed one hit in three scoreless frames followed by Lexi Liquori (Union/Union) with two innings of work.
 
After Casey Sokol (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) faced two batters, Tramp came out of bullpen and retired six straight hitters including three strikeouts.
 
Stockton will host third-ranked Rowan University in an NJAC doubleheader on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
