Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne) qualified for the final of the 800m at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 2:11.37 in the prelims on Friday afternoon. The NCAA Championships are being held at SPIRE Academy.
Kass finished third in her heat of eight runners and earned the ninth and final spot in the 800m final. Her time was ninth out of 21 in three heats overall and 27 hundredths of a second ahead of Cyna Madigan from Wisconsin-Oshkosh for the last berth in the final, which will take place tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
Kass is running in the NCAA Championships for the fifth time in her career. She was 19th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships as a freshman in 2023, eighth (First Team All-American) at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships, ninth (Second Team All-American) at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships and sixth (First Team All-American) at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships.
