Galloway, N.J. – Two Stockton University women's track & field teammates received NJAC weekly awards after the first meet of the outdoor season.
Emma Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) was chosen NJAC Track Athlete of the Week and
Joie Buxton (Galloway/Absegami) was selected NJAC Field Athlete of the Week.
Petrolia received an NJAC weekly award for the ninth time in her career between indoor and outdoor track & field. The senior won the 400m hurdles at the Stockton Invitational on Saturday with a time of 1:04.20 that was sixth in NCAA Division III during the first weekend of the outdoor season. Petrolia also ran a leg of the 4x400 relay that won with a time of 4:03.10 that was 10th in the nation.
In her first college meet, Buxton won the javelin in a field of 29 competitors with a distance of 40.42 meters that was good for third in the nation. The freshman won by nearly a meter over the runner-up in the event at the Stockton Invitational.
Stockton Women's Track & Field will compete in the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University on March 27-28.
