Chelucci Elevated to Head Women’s Golf Coach

7/3/2025 10:34:00 AM

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University has elevated Bruce Chelucci to head women's golf coach after two years as an assistant coach for the Ospreys. Chelucci is switching roles with Rodger Gottlieb, who has elected to take a step back and become the assistant coach following seven years as the program's initial head coach.

Chelucci takes over a Stockton team that will play in the newly-formed Colonial Women's Golf Conference this fall. The Ospreys will be one of seven founding members vying for the conference title in the inaugural CWGC Championship at Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford, Pennsylvania on October 26-28.

Chelucci is the founder and operator of the New Jersey Academy of Golf, which is located at Blue Heron Pines Golf Club. He has over two decades of experience as a teaching professional who works with golfers of all skill levels from youth beginners through highly skilled players.

Chelucci has been recognized by Golf Digest as one of the top teachers in the state of New Jersey. He served as longtime instructor for Joanna Coe, who won the 2008 NCAA Division II national championship and earned four All-American honors at Rollins College before turning professional and playing in six majors (five KPMG Women's PGA Championships, 2011 U.S Women's Open).

Chelucci has coached numerous junior players who later competed on the collegiate level, including Coe, three-time Mountain East Conference Player of the Year Kasey Frazier and Marybelle Daclan, who graduated from LaSalle University with the best scoring average in program history.

Gottlieb was hired in August 2018 and led the Stockton program from its inception through one year as a club sport followed by six years on the intercollegiate level. A lifelong student of the game, he built the foundation for Stockton Women's Golf and continually strived to grow the program, which is one of just four NCAA Division III women's golf teams in New Jersey.

Under Gottlieb's direction, Stockton hosted tournaments at a variety of local courses including Linwood Country Club, Shore Gate Golf Club and LBI National Golf Club. His vast experience and dedication to the game of golf will continue to be a benefit to the Osprey squad in his role as an assistant coach.
