Haverford, Pa. – Stockton University (2-1) split its two matches on the second day of the Haverford Invitational. The Ospreys easily swept Lebanon Valley (0-2) 25-11, 25-11, 25-8 but then were on the wrong side of a 25-17, 25-20, 25-19 sweep at the hands of Stevens (2-0).
Nicole Palmer (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) led the Ospreys with a match-high 10 kills against Lebanon Valley. Palmer and
Laila Newborn (Lower Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) tallied six blocks apiece.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) spiked nine kills on 14 attacks for a lofty .571 hitting percentage.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) and
Kristen Burton (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) handed out 17 and 10 assists respectively.
McKenna Ritchie paced the back row with nine digs to lead all players in the match.
Palmer produced another match high with 12 kills against Stevens, followed by Louer with seven kills. Mendick dished 16 assists while Ritchie and
Helen Murray (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) scooped 11 digs apiece for the Ospreys.
Palmer was selected to the All-Tournament Team for the Haverford Invitational at the conclusion of play on Saturday.
Stockton will have a week off before playing Misericordia (2:00 p.m.) and Messiah (4:00 p.m.) in a tri-match at Messiah next Saturday, September 6.
