Stockton Edged by Washington College 3-2

Chestertown, Md. – Stockton University (4-3) held a one-goal led twice but was overtaken in the last five minutes and edged 3-2 by Washington College (1-4). The Ospreys led for a total of 29 minutes and trailed for just 1:43 in the setback. A late penalty stroke proved to be the difference.
 
Jessica Bruther (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) gave Stockton an early lead with her second goal of the season just 1:17 into the game. Washington College responded quickly, tied the match only 2:31 later.
 
In the second quarter, Maura Somers (Berlin/Eastern Regional) put the Ospreys back on top 2-1 with her first career goal. Stockton maintained the lead all the way into the fourth quarter before Tara Radebaugh tied the game for the Shorewomen with 4:08 remaining.
 
The home team drew a penalty stroke with 1:43 on the clock and MaryCate Anson converted the try for the decisive goal as the Ospreys fell 3-2.
 
Stockton goaltender Erika Roura (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) made four saves and Kirsten Bailey (Burlington/Burlington Twp.) contributed two defensive saves. Charlotte Schurman finished with seven stops for Washington. Each team was credited with 12 shot attempts and nine shots on goal.
 
Stockton will be on the road again on Saturday for a matchup at Alvernia at 5:00 p.m.
