Stockton Ties Stevens 1-1

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (4-2-3) scored an early goal and went on to a 1-1 tie with Stevens (2-2-3) on a windy afternoon at G. Larry James Stadium. Logan Shaw (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) scored for the Ospreys for the second consecutive game.

Stockton took advantage of a Stevens miscue with the game still in its infancy. After a turnover by the Ducks, Katie Ambos (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) fed Shaw for a 15-yard shot into the low left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead just 6:38 into the match.

Shaw's goal was her third of the season, and the tally came on Stockton's only shot on goal of the game. Ambos recorded an assist for the second straight game and moved into the team lead with her third helper of the season.

Stevens knotted the game on a tap-in by Victoria Parelli in the 30th minute. The Ducks kept Stockton hemmed into their defensive third for the majority of the game, but the Osprey defense held fast.

Stockton goalkeeper Morgan Keil (Upper Twp./Holy Spirit) made four saves, with her best coming with just 1:45 remaining as she tipped a high, 35-yard shot by Mia Sena off the crossbar to preserve the 1-1 deadlock.

Osprey backs Riley Schoka (West Creek/Southern Regional), Erin Lally (Lumberton/Rancocas Valley), Amelia Shappell (Parsippany/Parsippany) Kyla Gillen (Columbia/North Warren) and Carissa Goodwin (Wayne/Wayne Hills) contributed defensively as well.

Stockton will have a week off before opening NJAC play with a home game against William Paterson next Saturday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m.
