Swarthmore, Pa. – Stockton University (7-5) picked up a pair of wins on day two of the Swarthmore Invitational. The Ospreys won a combined six out of seven sets in topping Scranton (9-5) 3-1 and sweeping Suffolk University (6-10) 3-0.
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) led Stockton with 13 kills against Scranton.
Jalynn Grant (Philadelphia, Pa./North Penn) hit double figures for the first time with a career-high 10 kills plus four blocks.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) handed out 24 assists and
Kristen Burton (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) dished 16 assists.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) and
Helen Murray (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) tallied 14 digs apiece.
After dropping the first set 25-21, the Ospreys responded by taking the next three 25-20, 25-23, 25-16.
Stockton had an easier time in the second match of the day, topping Suffolk 25-14, 25-23, 25-18. Louer led the offense with 10 kills and three aces. Grant and
Nicole Palmer (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) spiked six kills apiece, with Grant adding three blocks and Palmer notching 12 digs.
Mendick dealt 12 assists while Burton contributed 11 assists and three aces.
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) scooped 11 digs.
Stockton will play two NJAC matches next week, starting with a trip to Montclair State for a 7:00 tilt on Tuesday.
