Montclair, N.J. – Stockton University (7-6, 0-2 NJAC) began a stretch of three straight conference matches with a 3-1 setback at Montclair State (11-3, 1-1 NJAC). The Ospreys narrowly dropped the first two sets 25-23 and 25-22.
Stockton extended the match by winning the third set 25-17, but they could not sustain the momentum and came up on the wrong end of a 25-12 score in the fourth stanza.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) tied her career high and led all players in the match with 19 kills to bring her career total to 984 kills. Louer posted a team-best .375 hitting percentage as well.
Nicole Palmer (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) also reached double figures with 10 kills.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) dished 24 assists followed by
Kristen Burton (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) with 16 helpers.
Helen Murray (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) and
Laila Newborn (Lower Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) paced the defense with 12 digs and five blocks respectively.
Stockton returns home to host Rutgers-Newark on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
