Newark, N.J. – Stockton University (11-9, 8-5 NJAC) jumped out to a 15-point lead in the first quarter and breezed to an 88-35 rout of Rutgers-Newark (2-18, 0-13 NJAC). A trio of Stockton freshmen combined for 62 points and all 10 Ospreys who played in the game scored.
Zemirah Enalls (Barnegat/Barnegat) led the way with a monster double-double in a record-setting performance. Enalls scored a career-high 26 points and set a school record with 24 rebounds, surpassing the mark of 22 boards by Najha Treadwell in 2016.
Madisyn McNair (Hackensack/Hackensack) scored a career-high 20 points followed by
Bre Evans (Neptune/Neptune) with 16 points and a career-high nine rebounds.
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) totaled six points, nine rebounds, five blocks and four assists.
Stockton nearly doubled Rutgers-Newark on the glass, finishing with a whopping 71-36 rebound advantage. The Ospreys grabbed 39 offensive boards and converted them into 34 second chance points.
Stockton built a 24-9 lead after one quarter as Enalls (8 pts/7 reb) and Evans (7 pts/5 reb) combined for 15 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Ospreys grabbed 12 offensive caroms and turned them into 15 points.
The lead became insurmountable during a 20-3 second quarter in which Evans netted seven more points and McNair hit two three-pointers for six points. Already leading 44-12, Stockton dominated the third period 27-9 as Enalls tallied 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Ospreys led 71-21 after three quarters and cruised to the 88-35 triumph. Sanaa Brodie paced Rutgers-Newark with team highs of 17 points and eight rebounds.
Stockton will play its next two games at home, starting with a matchup against New Jersey City on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
