Philadelphia, Pa. – Stockton University competed in the two-day Widener Schuylkill Showcase alongside 24 other teams, all of whom were from either NCAA Division II or Division III. The throwing events were held at Widener on Saturday before the rest of the meet took place at the University of Pennsylvania's Ott Center on Sunday.
Elaina Styer (Estell Manor/Ocean City) compiled another impressive collection of performances to lead the Ospreys. Styer knocked four hundredths of a second off her own school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.89 seconds that gave her the win out of 24 runners and moved her into 14th in the nation.
Styer also posted runner-up finishes out of 23 in the long jump (5.33m) and out of 12 in the high jump (1.60m). She joined
Marlie DiPalma (Hackettstown/Pope John XXIII),
Emma Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) and
Emma Conroy (Matawan/Matawan) for second out of 14 teams in the 4x400 with a time that ranks 22nd in Division III (3:59.91).
DiPalma placed eighth out of 24 in the 60m hurdles (9.48 seconds) while Petrolia was 10th out of 43 runners in the 400m with a time that was her fastest ever indoors (1:00.02).
Maddy Valasek (Medford/Shawnee) finished third out of 17 in the 5000m (18:46.25) and
Sophia Stahl (Hillsborough/Hillsborough) was seventh with a 10-second personal best (19:39.58).
Eva Morrison (Northfield/Mainland) recorded an indoor personal best and tied for third out of 15 in the pole vault (3.50m).
Jessica Bruther (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) finished seventh out of 34 runners in the 800m (2:29.49) and
Morgan Farrell (Burlington Twp./Burlington Twp.) placed ninth out of 46 in the weight throw (12.77m).
Stockton will compete in the Fastrack National Invite at Ocean Breeze on Friday, February 6 at noon.
