Stockton Surges Past Misericordia 17-4

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-0) exploded for 15 goals in the second half and downed Misericordia University (0-1) 17-4 in the home opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.
 
Josh Graham (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) scored four goals with two assists for six points to tie freshman Calen Reid (Oak Ridge) Jefferson Twp.) who had six assists in his collegiate debut, for game-high point honors.
 
The Cougars opened the scoring with a tally by Jake Louis at the 10:46 mark of the first period, before Colin Wagner (Birdsboro, PA/Daniel Boonme) knotted the game 40 seconds later for the 1-1 tie after one frame. Reid assisted on the tally for his first career point.
 
Louis and Graham matched each other in the second period as the teams went to the break knotted at 2-2. The Ospreys then ran off six of the next eight markers in the third period to take a commanding 8-4 lead after three quarters.
 
Graham and Alex DeLierre (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) each hit the net twice with Reid dishing four helpers in the frame. Freshman Brody Nussman (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) assisted on one of DeLierre's goals for his first career point.
 
Stockton capped the match with nine goals in the final period while shutting out the Cougars in the stanza. Graham scored twice and dished a pair of helpers in the period before rookie Jimmy Wasko (Sayreville/St. Joseph) capped off the 17-4 final with his first collegiate goal.
 
Goalkeeper Ben Blum (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) played the first half making two saves in net. Transfer Tyler Sininsky (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) played 27:34 in the second half making four saves for his first win in net at Stockton, before giving way to Will Kasica (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) finished up without making a stop. Stockton held a massive 57-20 advantage in shots with 34 on net on the day.
 
For the Cougars, Louis scored two of the four goals, while netminder Leyton Sullivan made 17 saves.
 
Stockton will have a week off until next Saturday, when the Ospreys will face DeSales University in Galloway for a 12 pm start.
