Chestertown, Md. – After starting the season with two victories on home turf, Stockton University (2-1) went on the road for the first time and suffered their first loss of the season by a 19-11 count at Washington College (2-0).
Isabella Marinello (West Caldwell/Caldwell) led Stockton with a team-high four goals followed by freshman
Allie Prickett (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) with three goals and an assist. Fellow rookie
Maisy Mosier (Berlin/Eastern Regional) netted two markers.
Washington scored the first four goals of the game, but
Brielle Soltys (Absecon/Holy Spirit) got the Ospreys on the board and Prickett followed with two straight tallies to get Stockton within 4-3 early in the second quarter.
Although Marinello found the net twice later in the second period, the Ospreys trailed 10-6 at halftime. The game slipped away in the third quarter as the Shorewomen outscored Stockton 7-2, with Marinello and Prickett each potting a goal for the Ospreys.
Mosier scored twice and Marinello once during a 3-2 fourth quarter, and Stockton fell 19-11. In addition to scoring once, Soltys finished with game highs of six ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Billie Ormsby (Maple Shade/Maple Shade) added four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Mia Salvatierra led Washington with four goals and six assists for 10 points. Malery Andrews scored four goals for the home team.
Stockton returns home to host Marywood University on Saturday at noon.
