Stockton Finishes Third in NJAC Championships

Philadelphia, Pa. - Stockton University finished third out of nine teams in the NJAC Championships, which took place at The Ott Center on the Penn campus. Due to the heavy snow that blanketed the region, the first day of the meet was on February 21 and second day was on February 27. Stockton placed in the top three for the 12th consecutive year.
 
Stockton competitors won two events, finished second in two events and set two school records. Elaina Styer (Estell Manor/Ocean City) won the pentathlon with a school-record total of 3,747 points that is tops in NCAA Division III this year.
 
Eva Morrison (Northfield/Mainland) led a one-two-three finish in the pole vault and repeated as the NJAC champion by clearing a personal best height of 3.60 meters. Freshman Megan Morris (Pennsville/Pennsville) finished second (3.20m) and Sydney Rick (Pennington/Hopewell Valley) was third (3.20m).
 
Emma Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) finished second out of 10 in the triple jump (11.11m). Maddy Valasek (Medford/Shawnee) earned a pair of third-place finishes in the mile (5:05.54) and 5000m (18:18.10).
 
Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne) placed third in the 800m (2:16.33) while Marlie DiPalma (Hackettstown/Pope John XXIII) finished third in the pentathlon (2,913 pts.) and fourth in the 60m hurdles (9.57 seconds).
 
Kass, Petrolia, DiPalma and Emma Conroy (Matawan/Matawan) placed third in the 4x400 relay (4:03.74). Conroy, Madison Pratt (Galloway/Absegami), Jessica Bruther (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) and Sophia Cornell (New Tripoli, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) finished third in the distance medley relay (13:00.50).
 
Jessica Bentley (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) was fourth in the shot put (11.83m) and Cameron Radcliffe (Pt. Pleasant/Pt. Pleasant Boro) broke the seven-year-old school record in the 200m (26.27 seconds).
 
Some Stockton team members will return to The Ott Center on Sunday for the TCNJ Last Chance Meet at 1:00 p.m.
