Stockton Rolls to 15-6 Win over Pitt-Greensburg

Winter Haven, Fla. – Stockton University (2-2) piggybacked off their first victory of the season on Monday evening with another win Tuesday morning as the Ospreys topped Pitt-Greensburg (1-7) 15-6. Stockton reached double figures in runs for the second straight game.
 
Freshman Jimmy Casey (Newtown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) went 4-6 with a double, home run, four RBI and three runs to lead a 14-hit attack by the Ospreys.
 
Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert) went 4-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI. Freshman Liam Schwinn (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) continued his hot start with a triple and three RBI.
 
Yenuelle Rodriguez (Vineland/Vineland) gave the Ospreys a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the third inning that was the first of his two hits in the game.
 
RBI doubles by Casey in the fourth inning and Gmitter in the fifth gave Stockton a 3-1 edge but Pitt-Greensburg tied the game with two runs in bottom of the fifth.
 
The Ospreys took the lead for good with two unearned runs in the sixth inning and broke the game open with four runs in the seventh, including a three-run triple by Casey that made it 9-3. Casey later capped the 15-6 victory with his first career homer, a three-run blast in the ninth frame.
 
Starting pitcher Justin Prekop (Hamilton/Notre Dame) allowed three runs and struck out four in five innings on the mound. Four more Osprey hurlers tossed one inning apiece.
 
Tomorrow, Stockton will play Roger Williams at 9:15 a.m. and Western New England at 12:30 p.m.
