Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (2-0) opened the 2026 season in fine fashion, as the Ospreys downed Manhattanville University (0-2) by scores of 3-1 and 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Elizabeth Martin (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) and
Casey Sokol (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) both earned their first career wins in the circle.
Â
Game one saw the teams score a run each in the first inning. Stockton plated single runs in the third and fourth frames on RBI by
Emma Coldsnow (Yorktown, VA/Tabb) and
McKenna George (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) for the 3-1 lead.
Â
Martin tossed the first four innings allowing four hits and the one run, before giving way to
Lexi Liquori (Union/Union) who closed the door with three scoreless innings for her second career save and giving Martin her first career victory.
Â
The nightcap was another taught affair with a pair of freshmen leading the way.
Camryn Harry (Swedesboro/Paul VI), who rapped her first career hit in the first game, drove in her first career RBI in the first inning to give the Ospreys a 1-0 lead.
Â
In the fourth frame, after pinch runner
Jordan Jennings (Philadelphia, PA/MAST Charter) swiped second and third,
Aubrey Jeffers (Lumberton/Rancocas Valley) plated Jennings with a ground out for a 2-0 margin. In the sixth inning, freshman
Emily Clauss (Delanco/BCIT) scored
Sienna Smith (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) with her first career RBI for the insurance run and a 3-0 advantage.
Â
That was all Sokol needed as she finished her complete game shutout, scattering four hits and striking out seven hitters for her first career victory, completing the doubleheader sweep.
Â
George, Coldsnow, Jeffers, and
Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/James Caldwell) all had two hits on the day.
Â
Stockton will travel to Salisbury, MD this weekend to play in the Margie Knight Tournament. The Ospreys will play New Paltz at 11am, then will face NYU at 1:30 on Friday for their next two games.
