Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (5-3) broke out to a 6-1 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 16-5 victory over Farmingdale State (1-4). A pair of school records fell during the Osprey win.
Isabella Marinello (West Caldwell/Caldwell) tallied a goal and two assists, becoming Stockton's career points leader with 166. Freshman
Brielle Soltys (Absecon/Holy Spirit) set a single game record for the program with 14 draw controls.
Julia Gibson (Cape May Point/Lower Cape May) led the offense with five goals and an assist, followed by
Aubrey Giordano (Mt. Olive/Mt. Olive) with five goals. Soltys added a goal and three assists to go with her draw control record.
Marinello wasted little time setting the scoring record as she assisted on Gibson's goal in the first minute for point number 164 to top the mark of 163 by Michelle Pascrell. Giordano then potted three markers during a six-goal outburst that made it 7-1
Already leading 9-3, the Ospreys netted three more goals in a two-minute span late in the second quarter for a commanding 12-3 lead at halftime.
Shyanne Nucifora (Lacey Twp./Lacey Twp.) scored two of the three followed by one from Giordano.
Stockton was content to protect its lead in the second half, outscoring Farmingdale 2-1 in each of the last two quarters for the 16-5 triumph.
Brianna Robinson (Cape May CH/Middle Twp.) and
Gina Marotta (Montville/Montville) finished with five ground balls and three caused turnovers apiece. Marotta also snagged two draw controls.
Emily Sohm paced the Rams with a goal and two assists. Goalkeeper Giavanna Stamatelo made 10 saves in the game.
