Haverford, Pa. – Stockton University (4-6) played for the first time in nearly a week and fell to Haverford College (5-6) by a 10-6 count. The Ospreys manufactured six runs on five hits and nine walks in the game.
Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus) went 1-4 with a home run and two RBI. Avagnano became the fifth player in Stockton history to reach 100 career RBI.
Max Kaplan (Wall/Wall) was 1-3 with an RBI and a walk.
The Ospreys fell behind 6-0 in the second inning before scoring three runs in the top of the third. Avagnano slugged a two-run homer to reach the 100-RBI milestone and
Evan Palmer (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) later drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 6-3.
Haverford responded with two runs in the bottom of the third for an 8-3 count. In the fourth frame, a sacrifice fly by
Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert) and a walk to Kaplan with the bases loaded brought Stockton within 8-5, but the Ospreys got no closer and fell 10-6.
Stockton used three pitchers in the game, with
Anthony Ungaro (Cherry Hill/Paul VI) tossing 1.2 innings without allowing a run or hit.
Stockton will play a doubleheader at Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday at noon.
