Stockton Falls to #4 Christopher Newport

Newport News, Va. – Stockton University (8-3, 0-1 CLC) suffered a 12-3 setback to Christopher Newport (11-2, 1-0 CLC) in its first Coastal Lacrosse Conference game of the season. Christopher Newport is ranked fourth in the nation by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

Stockton's first period saw no goals from the Ospreys despite outshooting the Captains 11-10.  The Ospreys had four shots come from Colin Wagner (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) and two saves from Ben Blum (Mt. Laurel/Lenape)

The Ospreys' first goal came in the second period by Alex DeLierre (Bridgewater/Bridgwater-Raritan). Blum continued his impressive defensive performance in goal with six saves in the second period to finish with eight in the half.

The start of the third period saw Tyler Sininsky (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) be subbed in at goalie. Gage Parker (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) scored for the Ospreys, assisted by Josh Graham (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley). Sininsky made his first saves of the game in the third period with two.

The fourth quarter saw the third and final goal for the Ospreys from Wagner, assisted by Tommy Vandegrift (Abington, Pa./LaSalle College Prep).
 
The Ospreys outshot the Captains 44-38, led by Wagner's 10 shots and DeLierre's nine. Cole Blum (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) and Wagner led the game in ground balls with five each.

The Captains were led by Kevin Miller's six goals and Mason Bellinger's 20 saves.

The Ospreys will look to get back on track on Wednesday, away at 4 pm against fifth-ranked Salisbury University.
