Jersey City, NJ – Stockton University (7-20, 3-7 NJAC) split a doubleheader with New Jersey City (8-18-1, 1-9 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Gothic Knights took game one 6-1, with Stockton winning the nightcap 7-4.
For Stockton:
Freshman
Jimmy Casey (Newtown, PA/Archbishop Wood) totaled four hits and a career-high five RBI on the day.
Matthew McCloskey (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) also chipped in with four hits and two runs.
Dom Vizzoni (Trenton/Notre Dame) scored twice in the second game.
Tim Welsh (Allentown/Allentown) pitched seven innings in the first game with six strikeouts.
Conner Praschil (Emerson/Emerson) tossed a career-high 5.2 innings in relief in the second game, allowing just two hits in earning his second career win on the mound.
How it Happened:
Game 1: NJCU 6, Stockton 1
New Jersey City scored all of their runs in the middle three innings for a 6-0 lead.
Stockton broke the shutout attempt in the eighth frame on a fielder's choice RBI by
Yenuelle Rodriguez (Vineland/Vineland).
Game 2: Stockton 7, NJCU 4
The Ospreys got on the board in the first inning, when Casey singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a Rodriguez double.
Stockton added four more runs the next frame on an RBI walk by
Liam Schwinn (West Chester, PA/Henderson) and a two RBI single by Casey to make it 4-0.
The Gothic Knights answered with three runs in their half of the second inning, then knotted the game at 4-4 in the fourth with a single tally.
Stockton captured the game in the sixth inning when the Ospreys loaded the bases for Casey. His bases clearing triple pushed Stockton to a comfortable 7-4 lead. Praschil then shut the door in the victory.
For TCNJ
Daniel Klapisch had two RBI in the first game, with Jeremy Ricourt and Shawn Kish rapping two hits each.
In the nightcap, Frandi Yunior Mosquea Mesa had two hits and two RBI.
Andre Dean tossed a complete game in the opener with seven strikeouts.

Stockton will play a non-conference tilt on Tuesday against Gwynedd-Mercy University in Gwynedd Valley, PA. Game time is set for 3:30 pm.
