Gwynedd Valley, PA – Stockton University (7-21, 3-7 NJAC) could not hold an early lead and dropped a 7-6 decision to Gwynedd Mercy University (15-13) in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon.

For Stockton:
Freshman
Jimmy Casey (Newtown, PA/Archbishop Wood),
Matthew McCloskey (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) and
Logan Madison Warmisnter, PA/Warminster) had two hits each.

McCloskey also had a pair of RBI, as he ran his hitting streak to four games, with the last three being multi-hit games.

Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus), Casey, and
Yenuelle Rodriguez (Vineland/Vineland) also extended their personal hitting streaks.

Anthony Ungaro (Cherry Hill/Paul VI) pitched four solid innings allowing just one hit in relief.

How it Happened:
Stockton scored four times in the top of the third, when
Dom Vizzoni (Trenton/Noter Dame) tripled,
Liam Schwinn (West Chester, PA/Henderson) reached on a fielder's choice and stole second. Casey walked and Vizzoni scored on the wild pitch.

Rodriguez plated the second run, before McCloskey knocked in a pair for the 4-0 lead.

The Knights scored one run in their half of the third, then the Ospreys scored two more in the following two frames for a 6-1 lead.

The margin was short-lived as the home team knotted the game with five runs in the fifth for a 6-6 tie.

Neumann took the lead with a single marker in the eighth inning for the 7-6 advantage. Stockton threatened in the eighth and ninth innings but could not push across the tying run in the one-run defeat.

For Gwynedd Mercy
Noah Waldron and Jimmy DeCarlo had two hits each, with DeCarlo driving in two runs.

Chase Hamilton earned his second win of the year with 1.1 innings and three strikeouts in relief.

Stockton will return to NJAC Play on Thursday, when the Ospreys will travel to Camden, NJ to face Rutgers-Camden in the first of a home-and-home series. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
