Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (9-23, 5-9 NJAC) split their final home regular season doubleheader with William Paterson (13-19, 6-8 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. Stockton came from behind to take game one 8-7, before dropping the nightcap 11-7.

For Stockton
The Ospreys celebrated Senior Day, with senior
Michael Antonucci (Manasquan/Manasquan) leading the way with four hits, two runs and two RBI on the day.

Dom Vizzoni (Trenton/Notre Dame) also smacked four hits and scored three times.

Senior
Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert) had three hits and two RBI in the pair of games.

Anthony Ungaro (Cherry Hill/Paul VI) tossed four innings in relief, allowing two hits, with one unearned run in winning his second game of the year in the opener.

Justin Prekop (Manasquan/Manasquan) pitched 3.0 innings in relief in the second game, scattering three hits and allowing one unearned run, but did not figure in the decision.

Zack McCabe (Jackson/Jackson Memorial).

How it Happened
Game One:
Stockton fell behind 6-2, heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Vizzoni singled and scored when
Liam Schwinn (West Chester, PA/Henderson) bunted and advanced to third on a throwing error for one run.
Matthew McCloskey (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) drove in Schwinn to make it 6-4.

The Pioneers added a run the next frame, but the Ospreys answered with two more to close the gap to 7-6 after six innings. Antonucci doubled and scored after a wild pitch and passed ball. A walk and two batters hit by pitch loaded the bases for
Jimmy Casey (Newtown, PA/Archbishop Wood). He walked adding the second run of the inning.

Stockton won the game in the bottom of the eighth when Vizzoni stole second and advanced to third on another error.
Yenuelle Rodriguez (Vineland/Vineland) walked driving in the winner, then Ungaro shut the door for the 8-7 win.

Game Two:
The game was close as the Pioneers took a 4-2 lead that held up through the sixth inning. The visitors broke open the contest with six runs in the seventh inning and another marker in the next stanza for an 11-2 lead. Stockton tried to rally with four runs in the eighth inning and another in the ninth, but the uprising fell short in the 11-7 defeat.

For William Paterson:
Ty Kobylakiewicz totaled four hits and five RBI on the day, with four runs batted in coming in the first game.

Alex Gomez added three hits and two RBI with Avery Whitney getting three hits and three RBI in the nightcap.

Next Game
Stockton will play the fourth of the five-game homestand on Tuesday, when the Ospreys face FDU-Florham in a non-conference matchup. Game time is set for 3:30 pm.
