Glassboro, NJ – Stockton University (9-4, 1-1 NJAC) saw their six game winning streak snapped, falling to Rowan University (10-2, 1-0 NJAC) by a score of 16-9 on Wednesday afternoon. The Profs are ranked 16th nationally by the International Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
For Stockton:
Isabella Marinello (West Caldwell/Caldwell) led the offense with four goals.
Allie Prickett (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) and
Aubrey Giordano (Mt. Olive/Mt. Olive) hit the net twice each.
Maisy Mosier (Berlin/Eastern Regional) led the defense with four ground balls.
Jordan Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) made 10 saves in net, one off her career high.
How it Happened:
Stockton jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period on a pair of markers by Marinello.
Rowan scored the first goal of the second period, before the Ospreys potted three straight goals for a 5-2 lead. Two by Giordano and one by Marinello gave the visitors the margin.
The Profs answered with three goals of their own for a 5-5 tie, before
Brielle Soltys (Absecon/Holy Spirit) gave Stockton the 6-5 lead at the break.
The teams traded goals to begin period number three, but Rowan ripped off four consecutive tallies for a 10-6 advantage after three frames.
The home team salted the game away, outscoring Stockton 6-2 in the final period for the 16-9 victory.
For Rowan:
Elaina Corson led the Profs with six goals.
Madison Rothwein had a monster game with five goals, and two assists for seven points to go with a game-high 14 draw controls.
Trish Gillen scored twice and led all players with five ground balls.
Goalkeeper Kylie Durboraw made three saves in the win.
Next Game:
Stockton will have nine days off before playing Montclair State university on Friday April 17 in Galloway. Game time is scheduled for 5pm.
