Stockton Places Fourth in MARC Championships

Pennsauken, N.J. – Stockton University finished fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships on the Cooper River. The Ospreys rowed in three events, the varsity eight, second varsity eight and novice four.
 
Varsity Eight:
Maggie Dunn (Haddonfield/Haddon Twp.), Giavonna Terruso-Emmons (Mays Landing/Cedar Creek), Olivia Wagner (Lafayette/High Point), Ashley Timm (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT), Reilly Deschenes (Cape May CH/Middle Twp.), Breanna Blisard (Galloway/Cedar Creek), Megan Baldwin (Brigantine/Holy Spirit), Sydney Rowand (Barrington/Haddon Hts.) and coxswain Thalia Gonzalez (Moorestown/Moorestown)
 
Stockton finished second in heat two with a time of 7:30.469 that was the fourth best out of eight boats in the two varsity eight heats. The Ospreys later placed fourth in the final with a time of 7:27.704
 
Second Varsity Eight:
Reese Weirick (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), Ixanna Torres (Atlantic City/Atlantic City), Keira Kenney (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT), Lex Zang (San Carlos, Calif./Carlmont), Gabriella Nguyen (Pennsauken/Pennsauken), Maria Fazio (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forrest Hills Northern), Sam Moore (Egg Harbor City/Absegami), Eliza Leonardo-Paczkowski (Mishawaka, Ind./South Bend) and coxswain Mackenzie Sutton (Galloway/Cedar Creek)
 
Stockton earned a silver medal with second place out of seven teams in the final with a time of 7:50.915 that was just over three seconds behind winner Bryn Mawr. Earlier in the day, the Ospreys won heat two with a time of 8:13.447 that was second overall out of seven crews in two heats.
 
Novice Four:
Maddy Mehler (Rydal, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie), Julia Emer (Jackson/Grunin Performing Arts Academy), Estrella Figueroa (Galloway/Absegami), Alexa Shallcross (Ocean City/Ocean City) and coxswain Sam Moore (Egg Harbor City/Absegami)
 
Stockton's novice four, which consisted entirely of freshmen, raced head-to-head against Franklin & Marshall and finished second with a time of 9:11.500.
 
Up Next:
Stockton will compete in the Dad Vail Regatta, the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, on May 8-9.
