Scranton, PA – Stockton University (2-2) played for the first time in a week and dropped a 4-2 decision to the University of Scranton (4-0) on Saturday afternoon.
Riley DeMarco (Hammonton/Cedar Creek) and
Olivia Catalano (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) scored goals for the Ospreys.
Stockton got on the board first when Catalano scored her first goal of the year for a 1-0 lead.
Jessica Bruther (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) inserted a penalty corner that found
Maura Somers (Berlin/Eastern Regional). Her pass found Catalano for the marker at 5:25 of the first period.
The Royals tied the game just 1:30 later when Shana Goldsmith potted her own rebound for the equalizer at 1-1. The home team took the lead 2-1 to finish off the first quarter.
Scranton put the game away with two goals in the third frame, before Stockton answered with a late marker from DeMarco to close the margin to 4-2, but it was not enough as the home team captured the match.
Delfina Vanelli (Galloway/Cedar Creek) made seven saves in net for Stockton. Her counterpart Ruby Sorber stopped five Osprey shots.
The Ospreys return to Galloway for their next two games, beginning on Wednesday night when the Ospreys will face Washington College (MD). Game time is scheduled for 7pm.
