First Half Spurt Lifts Stockton to 9-5 Win


(Galloway, NJ) – Richard Stockton (5-1) scored six goals in the last 10:18 of the first half to build a 7-0 lead on the way to a 9-5 triumph over Bard College (2-1) that was the Ospreys' third straight win. Carlie Flake (Tabernacle/Seneca) paced Stockton with two goals, two assists and a game-high six draw controls while Colleen Knight (Pennsauken/Camden Catholic) contributed two goals and an assist.

Knight gave Stockton a 1-0 lead 8:42 into the game with an assist by Kim Raichelson (Brick/Brick Memorial) and the contest was scoreless for the next 11 minutes before the Ospreys unleashed a six-goal barrage. Nicole Miller (Southampton/Seneca) netted the first marker with an assist by Flake and Kelsey Perst (Blairstown/North Warren) potted a goal just 17 seconds later for a 3-0 advantage. Flake hit the net only 23 seconds after that for a 4-0 count.

Knight, Zoey Kramer (Eatontown/Red Bank Catholic) and Jenny Carpenter (Egg Harbor City/Absegami) scored in the last 6:36 of the first half to give the Ospreys a commanding 7-0 lead the break. Bard got on the board 48 seconds into the second half but Miller responded with her second marker of the game to make it 8-1 at the 23:10 mark.

Bard tallied the next four goals to pull within 8-5 with 4:31 remaining but Flake halted the comeback try with her second counter of the game just 17 seconds later and the Ospreys shut down Bard for the last four minutes to record their third straight win, 9-5.

Goalkeeper Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) earned the win with six saves for the Ospreys. Toni Roma (West Long Branch/Shore Regional) paced the Stockton defense with four caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Stockton will play their next game on Thursday, March 27 when the Ospreys host Immaculata at 7 pm.
