Stockton Downed by Albright, 14-5

(Reading, PA) – Richard Stockton (2-1) suffered their first defeat, 14-5 to Albright (2-2), after winning the opening two games in the program's history. Carlie Flake (Tabernacle/Seneca) scored two goals and snagged three draw controls while three of her Osprey teammates netted one goal apiece. Stockton was hampered by 32 turnovers and suffered a 39-minute scoring drought from which they could not recover.

Stockton yielded a goal just 26 seconds into the contest but quickly regrouped to take an early 2-1 lead on tallies by Colleen Knight (Pennsauken/Camden Catholic) and Zoey Kramer (Eatontown/Red Bank Catholic) only 1:08 apart. Ciarra Stroud (Medford/Shawnee) assisted on the goal by Knight. Albright tied the match just under two minutes later, and the Lions seized control with six goals in a span of 11 minutes to drop the Ospreys into an 8-2 hole at the break.

Albright scored the first three goals of the second half before Jenny Carpenter (Egg Harbor City/Absegami) broke through with 17:19 to play, snapping a run of 10 consecutive goals by the Lions. Flake later scored twice in the last 5:45 but Stockton was unable to make a serious dent in their deficit and tumbled to their first defeat, 14-5.

Starting goalkeeper Rianna Martorano (Manahawkin/Southern) made two saves in the 21:09 between the posts and Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) notched eight stops in 38:51 on the field. Toni Roma (West Long Branch/Shore Regional) paced the Osprey defense with three caused turnovers.

Stockton returns home to host Maritime College on Wednesday, March 12 at 4 pm.
