Stockton Doubles Ramapo 14-7

(Mahwah, NJ) – Richard Stockton (10-5, 2-4 NJAC) reached double digits in the win column in their first intercollegiate season by topping Ramapo (4-9, 1-5) 14-7 in their last regular season game. The win also gave the fledgling Stockton squad fifth place in the seven-team NJAC. Jenny Carpenter (Egg Harbor City/Absegami), Carlie Flake (Tabernacle/Seneca) and Zoey Kramer (Eatontown/Red Bank Catholic) each tallied three goals and an assist to propel the Ospreys to victory.

Colleen Knight (Pennsauken/Camden Catholic) and Nicole Miller (Southampton/Seneca) scored 1:27 apart to ignite a five-goal spree that staked Stockton to a 5-0 lead. Ramapo closed the gap to 6-2 before Knight and Kramer scored the last two markers of the first half to give the Ospreys an 8-2 lead at the break.

Kramer netted her third goal of the game 39 seconds into the second half to increase the advantage to 9-2 but Ramapo outscored Stockton 4-1 in the next 10 minutes to cut the lead down to 10-6 with 19:39 to play. A Carpenter tally was answered by Ramapo 40 seconds later for an 11-7 count before Flake, Carpenter and Alicia Leadbeater (Franklinville/Delsea) potted goals in the last 11:25 to close out the 14-7 win.

Stockton goalkeeper Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) earned the win with eight saves, six of which came in the second half. The Ospreys are eligible for an ECAC tournament invitation, and they will find out on May 5 whether or not they receive and ECAC berth.
