Stockton Records First NJAC Win, 20-10


(Galloway, NJ) – Richard Stockton (9-2, 1-1 NJAC) doubled up Rutgers-Camden (3-7, 0-2) 20-10 to record the first NJAC win ever in the program's inaugural season. Carlie Flake (Tabernacle/Seneca) scored a game-high six goals and added one assist, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Zoey Kramer (Eatontown/Red Bank Catholic) led all players with nine points on three goals and six assists. The Ospreys dominated the first half, opening up a nine-goal lead on the way to the victory.
 
Rebecca Nesterwitz (Toms River/TR South) scored the first of her three goals 1:08 into the game with an assist from Flake, who followed with her first marker 38 seconds later for a quick 2-0 lead. After a Jenny Carpenter (Egg Harbor City/Absegami) tally, Rutgers-Camden outscored the Ospreys 3-2 during five-minute stretch to make it a 5-3 game.
 
Stockton took over from there by reeling off seven unanswered goals. Kramer led the onslaught with two goals and two assists while Alicia Leadbeater (Franklinville/Delsea) netted two markers. Rutgers-Camden snapped the run with 28 seconds left in the first half but Nicole Miller (Southampton/Seneca) responded for Stockton with six ticks on the clock for a commanding 13-4 lead at intermission.
 
Kramer and Miller each registered a goal and an assist during 4-1 spurt in the first 12 minutes of the second half that increased Stockton's lead to 17-5. The Ospreys led 20-7 after Flake's sixth tally with three minutes to play, and they cruised to the 20-10 win.
 
Starting goalkeeper Mary Stornes earned the win with 11 saves in 57:16 of game action before Rianna Martorano (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) took over for the last 2:44. Jackie Jones led Rutgers-Camden with three goals and an assist followed by Holly Cusick with two goals and an assist.
 
Stockton will be back in action on Saturday for an NJAC road game at Kean at 1 pm.
