Stockton Wins with Third Straight Shutout

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (9-0) stayed perfect on the season with its third straight 2-0 shutout, this time over Cabrini University (1-8). The victory was the Ospreys' ninth straight this year and improved their record to 24-6 in 30 games since the start of last season.

Gianna Morganti (Berlin/St. Joseph's) and Issy Gilhooley (Ocean City/Ocean City) scored one goal apiece for Stockton. Goaltender Emily Gilligan (West Deptford/West Deptford) made two saves for her third consecutive shutout, extending the scoreless streak for her and the Ospreys to 188 minutes.

Gilligan's shutout also was her 10th in three seasons in a Stockton uniform, which ties the school record set by Caitlin Nolan (2003-06). Both of her saves came in the first quarter, and the Ospreys took over from there.

Stockton earned a penalty stroke in the second period and Morganti fired the attempt into the cage for her team-leading eighth goal of the season and a 1-0 lead at the 19:24 mark.

The Ospreys struck again early in the third quarter. Gilhooley attempted a pass that was blocked by a Cabrini defender. The ball came right back to Gilhooley, and she blasted a shot home for her second goal of the season.

Stockton did not allow a Cabrini shot attempt in the second half and yielded just two penalty corners as they controlled the play and kept the ball in their offensive half of the field the majority of the time. Twenty-one Ospreys saw action as the squad posted its third consecutive 2-0 shutout.

Cabrini goalkeeper Noelia Ramirez made eight saves as Stockton outshot the Cavaliers 11-4 in the game.

Stockton will play its next game at Drew University, the alma mater of head coach Sarah Elleman, on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
