Seven Ospreys Receive Academic All-District Soccer Honors

Galloway, N.J. – Seven Stockton University soccer players, six from the women's team and one from the men's team, received Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators for the 2023 season.
 
The women's honorees were juniors Emily Hauck (Lebanon, Pa./Northern Lebanon), Kylee Alvarez (Galloway/Absegami), Sophia Drea (Medford/Shawnee) and Erica Dietz (Allentown, Pa./Central Catholic) along with sophomores Riley Schoka (West Creek/Southern Regional) and Logan Shaw (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley).
 
The men's selection was junior Joseph Carbone (Pequannock/Pequannock). Hauck, Dietz and Carbone were chosen for the second straight year while Alvarez, Drea, Schoka and Shaw received the academic recognition for the first time.
 
The requirements for College Sports Communicators Academic All-District are a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average and sophomore or higher standing. Student-athletes must have competed in 90 percent or started at least 66 percent of their team's games this season.
 
Drea is a three-time NJAC Second Team and 2022 United Soccer Coaches All-Region back who has started all 62 games that she has played in her career. The junior has contributed defensively in 29 shutouts and also tallied four goals and six assists for 14 career points. Drea is a psychology major at Stockton.
 
Hauck is a three-time all-conference midfielder who was voted NJAC Second Team this year after two straight NJAC Honorable Mention selections. The junior has started 62 of the 64 career games in which she has appeared for the Ospreys, recording eight goals and 10 assists for 26 points. Hauck is a health science major at Stockton.
 
Dietz is a two-time NJAC Honorable Mention forward with 17 goals and seven assists for 41 career points in 63 games at Stockton including 40 starts. A health science major, Dietz led the Ospreys in goals and points for both the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
 
Alvarez received NJAC Honorable Mention recognition this year after starting all 19 games and helping Stockton post 11 shutouts with her strong play at center back. The junior has started 40 of the team's 41 games over the past two years. The criminal justice major has 53 career games played and 43 matches started, during which she has contributed to 19 shutouts.
 
Schoka moved into the starting lineup this fall and joined Drea and Alvarez for an Osprey defense that registered 11 shutouts and a 0.94 goals against average. The sophomore, who is majoring in social work, has played in 21 career games thus far.
 
Shaw played in 14 games with 13 starts this season, scoring three goals and tying for the team lead with five assists for 11 points. In 34 career games including 18 starts, the sophomore forward has six goals and six assists for 18 points. Shaw is a biology major at Stockton.
 
Carbone started all 20 games and tallied six goals and four assists for 16 points on the way to an NJAC Second Team nod in his junior year. A finance major, Carbone has 19 goals and eight assists for 46 career points in 59 games played with 47 starts as an Osprey.
