Galloway, N.J. – After serving in the role on an interim basis for the 2025 season,
Courtney Dougherty has been named head women's soccer coach at Stockton University. Dougherty, who has been involved with the Stockton program as a player or coach for the last 20 years, led the Ospreys to a 7-6-7 record and an NJAC Tournament berth as the program's interim head coach in 2025.
Dougherty was elevated in August after 15 years on the coaching staff at Stockton, which is her alma mater. She spent 13 seasons as an assistant coach followed by two years as associate head coach (2023-24).
Overall, Dougherty has helped Stockton Women's Soccer record 188 victories during her time on the coaching staff. Including her 65 wins as a player, she has been played a part in 253 of the program's 479 victories (52.8%).
The Ospreys reached double figures in wins 11 times in 14 full seasons with Dougherty on the bench alongside Nick Juengert, who she succeeded and for whom she played, highlighted by consecutive 17-win campaigns in 2012 and 2013.
Dougherty, a native of Ocean City, earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Stockton in 2010. She later obtained her master's degree in Clinical Health Psychology in 2012 and doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2017, both from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Prior to joining the coaching staff, Dougherty started all 88 games that she played for Stockton from 2006-09. In four seasons as the center midfielder, Dougherty sparked the Ospreys to a 65-19-9 record and four consecutive NCAA Tournament berths while totaling 19 goals and 15 assists for 53 points.
Dougherty was a four-time NJAC all-conference selection (2006-07 NJAC Honorable Mention, 2008 NJAC First Team, 2009 NJAC Second Team) who was voted NJAC Midfielder of the Year and NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic First Team in 2008. Dougherty was inducted into the Stockton Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015.
