Petrolia, Freda & Rick Snag NJAC Weekly Honors

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University swept the NJAC weekly awards in women's track & field following the first meet of the outdoor season. Emma Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) was named NJAC Track Athlete of the Week, Isabella Freda (Verona/Verona) was chosen NJAC Field Athlete of the Week and Sydney Rick (Pennington/Hopewell Valley) was selected NJAC Rookie of the Week.
 
Petrolia collected her seventh career NJAC weekly honor while Rick and Freda were selected for weekly awards for the first time in their careers after all three competed in the Stockton Invitational on Saturday.
 
Petrolia won the 400m hurdles by over three seconds with a time of 1:03.52 that currently ranks seventh nationally. The junior also ran a leg on the winning relay team in a time of 4:01.17 that stands 10th in NCAA Division III through the first weekend of the outdoor season.
 
Freda won the hammer throw in a field of 17 competitors with a toss of 45.28 meters on her final attempt that was tops by over three meters (9'11"). The senior currently sits 11th nationally in the event.
 
Rick placed second to her teammate Eva Morrison on a tiebreaker in the pole vault with a personal best height of 3.20 meters. The freshman one of nine vaulters who are tied for 31st in the nation in the early going.
 
Stockton Track & Field will be back in action at home on Friday and Saturday, hosting the Osprey Open at G. Larry James Stadium.
